Birthday Trip to Asheville

Sunday after church we left for a 2 day hiking trip to the Asheville area. We started our adventure with a hike to Crabtree Falls, a 2.5 mile round trip hike, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Waterfall selfie. Notice the people in the background as a scale of the size.
The walk back was beautiful with the fall colors.
Next stop was Craggy Gardens and Craggy Pinnacle Trails. The 360 view from the top was amazing but even more amazing was the sunset.
These pictures don't do it justice and are missing the pretty pink. At dark we ate at the most authentic mexican restaurant we could find in Asheville.
The next morning we had a very fancy and delicious hotel breakfast. Then headed the opposite direction on the parkway to Graveyard Fields.
It's a popular hiking spot we've been curious about for awhile.
There were 2 waterfalls there but not much else. I know, I'm spoiled!
The fall colors were striking and made it worth the hike.
Another hike we'd like to do one day...
And finally the best hike of the weekend, the Art Loeb Trail. Wow! We hiked along the top of the ridge. It was crazy beautiful.
These red bushes were our favorite. They were at the Craggy summit too.
I'm not sure how far we hiked but my legs are still sore.
So thankful to live in this beautiful state. Thank you Joyce to taking such wonderful care of our kids and being so willing to take them.
Tonight we're all going out to Pie Five for dinner and Josh made me a cookie cake for dessert. Joyce took me out to pick out some workout clothes and it was so fun shopping with her. Thanks Mimi for making everyone's birthday special.
