My New Favorite Place!

For Memorial Weekend we traveled to Charleston, SC just over 3 hours from home. Our first stop was Charles Towne Historic Site. What's everyone looking at?
Bobcat! There was a small zoo with animals native to the region.
The area had some huge trees. Always love seeing live oaks with Spanish moss.
We tried to outrun the tropical storm but it eventually rained and didn't stop until the next day.
Next we headed into Charleston to visit the FREE natural history museum at the College of Charleston.
The kids were entertained by the large collection of bones and fossils.
On the way to our rental, we stopped to see the famous Angel Oak Tree. It's claim is the oldest oak east of the Mississippi at 500 years.
After checking into our villa on Seabrook Island (my new favorite place), the kids just had to swim, even in the rain. The water was warm but they were cold after getting out.
Playing and exploring on the beach is fun even in the rain.
The place we stayed, had a beautiful view of a saltwater creek and marsh. Notice Josh napping.
Here's a view of the villa from the canoe launch.
Thankfully the rain stopped and we got to enjoy sunny skies. The owners even offered us another night free because of the weather. We took advantage by a really late checkout.
Notice the 2 lizards on Aaron's head.
While on the island, we found some of our greatest beach treasures ever! See the stingray at Joyce's feet?
We even got to touch him. Way better in nature than at the aquarium.
Just a few of the beautiful whelks we found. So rare and we brought home about 20!
We even got to see tons of dolphins, a live horseshoe crab, 2 types of jellyfish, and a bunch of sea cucumbers.
Jackpot! It was so fun finding all these sand dollars. The detail of the flower design is proof to me that there is a creator.
Addy found the first starfish we've ever found at the beach.
Wow! What a trip! We're already planning to go back.
