The Land of Waterfalls
Last weekend our fun crew headed to Brevard, NC, known as the land of waterfalls, about 2.5 hours from home.
The first stop was at this beautiful creek in the Pisgah National Forest...
for a bathroom break, lunch, and Pokemon trading.
We traveled along the Forest Heritage Scenic Byway.
Our first hike was to Moore Cove Falls, an easy 1.5 mile round trip.
A thinner falls you could walk behind.
Can you see the rainbow?
Next, the famous Sliding Rock. All of us went down multiple times. The water at the bottom was deep and so cold that it took your breath away.
A quick picture at Looking Glass Falls, just off the road and very popular.
Next we went to the Cradle of Forestry Museum and to the Fish Hatchery.
And finally to Black Forest Family Campground. We stayed in a camping cabin for the first time. Just beds and electricity. Amanda and Zachary toughed it out in a tent nearby us.
The kids loved swimming in the heated pool. Notice Benny falling in.
The next day we drove to Caesars Head State Park to see this beautiful mountain view.
Then drove up to Symmes Chapel for this amazing scene. The horizontal beam says 'I will lift up my eyes to the hills...from Psalm 121.
These plaques lined the front of the chapel. I liked this one.
High Falls in the Dupont State Forest. The trail to the bottom of the falls was unfortunately closed.
Cute couple picture except for the adorable person in between us.
The gorgeous covered bridge on top of the falls.
