Father's Day Festivities

For Father's Day we wanted to do what our man loves best...hiking!!! So we drove 2 hours to Saluda to see the Green River Narrows.
After 1.2 miles on a rocky trail, we were on the lookout for an unmarked vertical one to get down to the river. I did my research on the internet beforehand.
The kids LOVED using the ropes to get down. The trail description recommended not taking young kids. Good thing ours are big kids now!
Made it to the falls, the 1st of several.
Josh is never satisfied to just see the falls and turn around. We must explore further upstream.
Wow, just wow! I LOVE you North Carolina.
There were some tricky spots so we had to help each other.
But the further upstream, the more beautiful the river. I was scared for these very brave kayakers.
Notice the boys for scale. I cannot believe those kayakers went down this river AND the waterfall!
Benny found a perfect hole in the rock. The boys had fun with it.
The way back. We hiked way more than our usual 3 miles this time.
And we were all dripping with sweat especially going up the ropes. Phew!
Our hard work was rewarded with some BBQ for dinner.
Then to the hotel! We stayed at the Hyatt downtown Asheville and had a nice view of the mountains and sunset out the 7th floor window. The kids took a swim in the hotel pool before going to bed.
After enjoying a free hotel breakfast we headed to another hike that's been recommended to us by several people.
The Max Patch hike took us to a grassy bald.
The Sound of Music type scenery, wildflowers included.
I had to bribe them for this one. So worth it!
We LOVE you Josh!!! Hope you enjoyed your special day.
