Hikes to Waterfalls

Last weekend we went on a one night trip to the mountains. To make it more fun we decided to see as many waterfalls as possible. Our first stop was Soco Falls.
So proud I've got a girl who's not afraid to get her feet wet.
Next stop Mingo Falls. They are taller than they look at 120 feet.
We were lucky enough to see a herd of elk!!! They were endangered and reintroduced into the area.
We visited the southern section of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Family picture at Juney Whank Falls.
Morel mushrooms!!! Josh has been looking for these every since we were first married and he's never found any. I was dying laughing when Jackson found the first one on accident.
Tom Branch Falls (80') as seen walking along the Deep Creek trail to yet another falls.
The river running along the trail was beautiful. In the summer you can rent tubes and go tubing down it.
Addy carrying a little tired monkey on her back.
The kids hiking on the trail. I love when they travel in a pack.
Indian Creek Falls (25') at the end of the trail.
Playing in the creek. If it were summertime, I'm sure they'd be swimming in it.
I had to get at least one picture with my man.
The little boys resting on a log and playing together.
After a day of hiking, the kids still had tons of energy to swim at the hotel pool. Then we all squeezed into 2 queen beds for the night.
After an all-you-can eat breakfast at the hotel, we were on the road again.
We decided to take the scencic route home. I wanted to drive because I was getting scared looking out my window down a steep dropoff.
We stopped along the road to see Cullasaja Falls. My picture doesn't do it justice. It's 250 ft down in a deep gorge with huge mountain ridges all around it.
And our last stop was my favorite. These are called Dry Falls (75').
There was a beautiful paved walkway that takes you down to the falls.
And even behind them!
Peaceful drive home. The closer we got to Charlotte, the warmer and more colorful the scenery became. The grass is bright green and there are flowering trees everywhere.
Home sweet beautiful home.
