Yellowstone Part 1 - Jackson, WY
Josh took a record breaking number of days off work so that we could travel out west to see 3 amazing national parks!! D1: We flew into the beautiful Jackson Hole airport inside Grand Tetons National Park.
After an easy car rental and preordered grocery pickup, we headed to our airbnb off Moose Wilson Rd in a super cute condo.
Here's the only bedroom which we decided to give to Addy since she was sick with a bad head cold (not covid).
The rest of us slept in the living room on the sofa mattress on the floor, in the wall bunks or in the very popular window bed. Not ideal but it worked.
D2: Hike to Bradley and Taggart Lakes 5m.
The gorgeous Lake Taggart. The Tetons are known for still lakes with reflections of the mountains.
Our interruption of the view.
One section of the trail had hundreds of butterflies. We got video of us making them all fly at the same time.
After the hike, we tried to go to String and Leigh Lakes for a short 3m hike but the parking was full. So instead we had lunch at this random peaceful overlook in the van.
On our way back to the condo, we fit in a shorter 3m version of the hike to Phelps Lake. It was my favorite because we had our own little private spot.
Josh and Benny cooling off in the water. I was really regretting not bringing my floaty.
Gorgeous. The smoke from wildfires made the views a little hazy but I can't complain.
After dinner at the condo, we headed to the rodeo! A must do activity in Wyoming. Addy went to bed early so she stayed home to rest.
Here's one of the many videos I took of the action.
D3: Hike to Cascade Canyon. We started by taking a shuttle boat across Jenny Lake, which took off 4 miles of this very long hike making it 9m. The 1st climb was tough to Inspiration Point.
Pretty views of the canyon in the afternoon once the sun came out.
So many wildflowers along the way.
A lush forest area.
Most of the hike was along water. Quick break for a picture. Benny was suffering at this point. He got Addy's sickness.
Never seen a flower like this before!
The people are watching a moose across the river. We saw a female on the way there and back.
After a very long shuttle boat line to get back, we made it to the condo for a much deserved rest!
Stay tuned for D4, Yellowstone...
